Journalling

A daily practice that supports my mental health. The positive effects for me are;

  • Having a safe space to express myself
  • A container for all of my emotions
  • A tool to help me become more mindful
  • A record of my experiences
  • An opportunity for learning about my self
  • A space for reflection

My journey with Art Therapy has also shown me that all the words in the world might not be enough to convey my feelings, in the way that one hastily scratched out stick figure drawing can! So my journal is not just a place for words, it is a place for my drawings, colouring, words, images, basically any type of expression that supports me in whatever moment I am having.

Journalling also supports the integration of my learning from 6 months of DBT group therapy, and provides me with a space for reflection, learning and gaining neurofeedback.
